Everybody is talking about eco / sustainable / passive solar developments these days. A Passive House is not the same as a passive solar house. Lots of new buildings can perform very well in modern construction and it can sometimes be economical to accept a ‘good standard’ of build that will perform perfectly adequately and maybe offer you slightly lower energy bills too. A common boasting point we often hear from people who have designed passive solar houses is that it’s so good to be able to open up the windows and doors and let the breezes through to keep the place cool in summer. We agree, it is good! But we also think that after you’ve opened up the house in the day, it’s good to be able to close the house up when you want to, say when there is noise outside, smoke in the air, you or your family members have allergies or asthma or hay fever, or there could be a virus in the air….. AND have an even better performing home in terms of energy consumption, hygiene and comfort than any other style of house available on the market! But that’s just us.
If you’d like to speak with us about your ideas to design a passive house or you are interested in the services we offer, get in touch!
We have worked in the construction industry for many years and have gained a wealth of experience across multiple disciplines of engineering and construction. We believe that we can improve the ways buildings and projects are designed and built by approaching them with a holistic approach that considers all aspects as a whole. We ensure that when we start planning a build, we consider the finished product and its useability for the customer.
The unique aspect Pilex has is that we are qualified engineers and certified passive house designers. We therefore bring a unique combination of expertise to our customers, that most architects / building designers simply do not have. Every company has its strengths – we just believe we have the edge when it comes to the skill sets you really want on a building project.
Often, the most challenging and expensive part of a project is getting it out of the ground. Pilex’s engineers specialise in geotechnical engineering, concrete structures and piled foundations, so we know we have the knowledge and experience to manage our projects in a way that ensures you get your projects finished sooner without unnecessary complications.
